Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Tumors, trauma, congenital malformations, congenital and acquired deformities of jaws and soft tissues of the face are the main areas of the oral and maxillofacial pathology, surgically operated at the FEFU Medical Center.

Unique to the Far East surgeries, performed at the FEFU Medical Center, are the reconstruction of extensive defects of the face with complex revascularized graft flaps. Defective bone, muscle, skin, and subcutaneous structures of the face are replaced in the same surgical event. In order to supply blood to the tissue, the surgeon places anastomoses on the arteries and veins.

A microscope with good magnification and resolution, microsurgical instruments, coordinated work of surgeons, anesthesiologists, resuscitators, and operating nurses are needed to perform such surgeries. FEFU Medical Center provides all of these features.

One of the most common abnormalities of the oral and maxillofacial surgery is considered a malocclusion due to the over-development or underdevelopment of the jaws. Patients seeking such surgery earlier were sent for treatment to Moscow or Novosibirsk. Today, such surgeries are conducted at our Center.

Children with congenital malformations of the face, such as cleft lip and palate, are frequently surgically operated at the FEFU Medical Center as well. Children are discharged from the hospital in 2 to 3 days after the surgery. Children stay together with their mothers in single or double room wards.
